Jo is an illustrator and designer, based in the Cotswolds in the UK. Living with her two lovely kids and a very large, French Sheepdog. Walks around the gorgeous countryside and canal paths, visits to local craftspeople and fun trips down to Bristol and London, for some city inspiration, all come together to create her wide range of styles.
She has loved art pretty much from the minute she can remember and was always drawing and day dreaming as a kid. Finding school extremely dull and not paying attention meant that she didn’t get the qualifications to go to art college but found that, for some unknown reason, a fashion and design course didn’t require high grades. It seemed the next best thing to art so she then spent two years in the late eighties designing, pattern cutting and sewing her own collections whilst sporting huge shoulder pads and the biggest hair it was possible to achieve.
Next was a variety of jobs that weren’t really the right fit because fashion turned out to be a really hard thing to actually make a living from and she had no clue how to achieve her dream job of being an artist.
Over the years, a job designing for a computer games company, time as a website developer and a wonderful job in an art gallery all added up to give her the confidence and the skills needed to get together her first illustration portfolio. It took a bit of trial and error but this eventually led to enough work to become full time and she has now been working successfully, and very happily, as an illustrator and designer since 2003 and says that the job just gets better and better.
